I am RA (Research Assistant) in Dr. Xiang’s lab and study biofilm formation of Komagataeibacter xylinus as a model organism for the production of nanomaterials (nanocellulose, nanofibers, nano-proteins and more) through metabolic engineering, gene manipulation, media design, AI and fermentation technologies as a part of NSF-EPSCoR project (Chemurgy 2.0). My research work is influenced by Chemurgy 2.0’s vision of “Building capacity across Iowa to meet human needs from things that grow” and I work under focal area of FFR (Fibers for Flexible and Rigid Materials) where Dr. Chunhui Xiang is a co-lead.
