Binayak Raj Pandey, a second-year PhD in Microbiology student from Dr. Xiang’s lab, was officially nominated and elected as a Full Member of Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Honor Society. Founded at Cornell University in 1886, Sigma Xi is one of the oldest Greek honor societies and a founding member of the Association of College Honor Societies. As per the letter, he was offered full membership as an individual who has demonstrated noteworthy achievement in research. Iowa State University was the first pure Land Grant university to join as the 34th chapter of Sigma Xi in 1920 and a description of the chapter here at ISU can be found at https://sigmaxi.las.iastate.edu/
