Dr. Zengyi Shao in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering has received the Bailey Research Career Development Award for the following project

Title: Establishing a Novel Instrumental Model for Elucidating Mitochondrial DNA-Associated Dysfunction and Pathogenicity

Dr. Shao's research group will use this award of $150,000 in institutional funding to develop new genetic tools with which to investigate the role of mitochondrial dysfunction in a broad spectrum of diseases, such as obesity which will be the primary focus of their research.
