Daniel Nielsen receives Russ and Lora Talbot Fellowship
4th year PhD candidate, Daniel Nielsen, has received the competitive Talbot Graduate Fellowship in Veterinary Medicine. Daniel has received a $2,000 award for the Fall 2018 semester.

The Russ and Lora Talbot Graduate Award was established by donors to support graduate
students who have shown exceptional dedication to their research and graduate studies. This
scholarship intends to help launch the graduate student’s career as a post-doctoral scholar or
as they begin their full time employment. The award is a one-time award in the amount of
$2,000 (applied to the recipient’s U-bill) and there will be up to 4 awards given in 2018 and it
will be awarded on a competitive basis. The recipient is required to write a thank-you note that
will be sent to the donors and the letter should include a brief description of their research
activity. The College of Veterinary Medicine Dean and Associate Dean for Research and
Graduate Studies will be responsible for the selection of the recipient, with recommendations
from the Selection Committee and nominating faculty. The veterinary administration will
oversee administration the scholarship program.
